Rascals Project
The Rascals Youth Project is funded through Hull Children Fund until 31st March 2011.
The project worked with Gypsy and Traveller young people aged between 5 and 13 years of age who live in the Hull area permanently on sites or in houses. The project employed a Part-time Youth Worker and a small team of Sessional Workers. The project provided weekly sessions held every Saturday and an additional activity during each week of the school holidays. The Youth Worker also liaised with other agencies to ensure partnership working and to bring the needs Gypsy and Traveller Young People onto the local agenda.
Chill Out Project
The vast majority of the work The Chill Out Project undertook was working alongside young people. It was a great challenge for The Chill Out Project to develop the kind of working relationships that avoided conflict with partnership agencies in seeking to impact upon a number of issues that affect young people, including employment, substance misuse, creating a process that allows young people to have an effective and influential voice in their communities and across the city and health related issues.
The Chill Out Project and the Teenage Pregnancy Unit being a particularly productive partnership, where an impact upon Teenage Pregnancy statistics has been made in the Northern area of Hull, with the Teenage Pregnancy Unit recognising the potential of having a young people focused resource on Orchard Park Estate, such as The Chill Out Project to deliver sexual health services to young people in a non clinical environment.
Wise Youth Project
The Wise Youth Project is based in Goole & Howdenshire in East Yorkshire. We received funds from the National Lottery and Children In Need. The funding was for three workers to support young people and volunteers in being creative.
2009 saw the painting of Goole subway, the subway went funky with a mural which brought colour into the centre of Goole using 50 litres of paint with the kind help of 30 volunteers who spared between them over 1000 hours of voluntary time.
The project also offered training in different research techniques this training took two days and 12 hours of fieldwork, gaining 10 points towards a University Foundation.
